Behrooz Ghassemi’s new book, “History, political economy and visual interpretation of the street venders of Peru,” is a bilingual (English and Spanish) book with two covers, 1,071 photographs, mostly in color, and observations and reflections based on many years working in that country. Ghassemi is an Iranian exile, anthropologist, photographer and documentarian, who has lived in Peru for much of the past two decades. As he says in the introduction, this book “could fill a partial void created by a dereliction of duty on the part of academic historians of socio-economic reality of Peru in the last four decades and a half (1965-2010).”
Friday, May 2, 7 pm, at Bindlestiff Books. Copies of the book will be available.
